We live in a town that is notorious for its cold Winters.
In the mornings, we lug ourselves out of our cosy beds to find ourselves face-to-face with frosty air, icy bathroom floor tiles, and frozen cars that need to be defrosted before they can be driven.
We wake up in the dark, and head home from work in the dark, and we bundle up, and rush indoors, and dream of sunnier days.
There’s not a day that goes by that someone doesn’t make comment about how bloody cold it is.
But there’s an amazing silver lining to this whole Winter scenario:
A roaring fire, a (questionably) loyal pet curled up on your lap, and a hot drink, warming your hands, your belly and your heart.
This is Winter’s good side. And it’s a beauty.
Experiencing the discomfort of the cold, makes the warmth of the fire even more magnificent. Because the lived experience of the unpleasant stuff, really highlights how lucky we are to have access to the good.
Yin and Yang.
Darkness and Light.
Tears and Laughter.
It’s all about balance, and more than a little bit about perspective.
A bit like life, eh?
Stay warm, folks. It’s cold out there.
