Looking for a cool little New Year’s tradition?
Grab a decent sized jar, a little notepad and a pen, and from January 1st, start making notes about the little things that put a smile on your dial throughout the year.
Fill the jar up as the year goes by, and on the following New Year’s Day, read through them all, and smile all over again.
We started doing this in January of 2013, and it’s one of my favourite things EVER.
Coffee dates with friends. Patting the dog. Visiting relatives. New babies. Career changes. Baking cakes with the kids. Beach swims. Cutting roses. Painting pictures. Oh, and without fail, a fart joke or a cartoon penis thrown in there somewhere.
This jar is all about the small moments that happen in between the big stuff. You know, the stuff that makes up your life!
And looking back through them all gives the loveliest reminder of all the good, amidst the busy and stressful other times.
It costs nothing to do, but for me, it’s priceless.
Go on – grab a jar! You’ll love yourself next year for taking the time to do it.
